Single Tooth Implants

Single Tooth Dental Implant

In the past, the most popular method for replacing a single missing tooth was with a conventional fixed dental bridge. This approach involves an artificial tooth suspended from two dental crowns placed on prepared teeth adjacent to the edentulous area.

While to this day, a conventional fixed bridge remains an effective option for a missing tooth, a single-tooth dental implant offers several advantages. First and foremost, because a dental implant is self-supporting, it eliminates the need to prepare and crown the teeth on either side of the missing one.

And, since it behaves in much the same way as a natural root, by providing ongoing stimulation to the surrounding bone, an implant helps prevent bone resorption in the area and preserve the surrounding bone to support natural facial contours.
